La noche eterna del espacio profundo que penetra a traves de los enormes ojos que se abren al abismo, contrasta con la luz que emana de la superfie blanda del interior de la nave. 

Hchac viene a visitarme. Se trata de un ser parlanchin cuya cabeza se asemeja a la de una ardilla,  según he podido rescatar del archivo general, y los brazos y piernas son exactamente iguales a brazos articulados de cuatro uniones cardan que pueden girar 360 grados en todas direcciones.  Sus movimientos son muy agiles y la precisión de los mismos es milimétrica.  Pero lo más llamativo de sus cualidades es su capacidad para escudriñar el futuro. Por ese motivo, las decisiones importantes se adoptan después de consultarle a él. We share this habitat with beings from other regions of the universe.

Karl is one of the watchers of the control. That's what we call the ship's complex drive system. We've been close friends since he saved my life billions of seconds ago.

Hace tres trillones de trillones de segundos yo nací en esta nave y seguramente moriré en ella. 
Compartimos este hábitat con seres de otras regiones del universo.
Karl es uno de los vigilantes del control. Así llamamos al complejo sistema de impulsión de la nave. Nos une una buena amistad desde que me salvó la vida hace billones de segundos. 
Cuatro ojos alrededor de la cabeza le permiten observarlo todo. No necesita alimentarse y lo que podría parecer su boca es una pequeña hendidura que utiliza para asimilar directamente la energía del universo y que nosotros obtenemos al deglutir los alimentos. 
La nave tiene capacidad para transportar unos cien mil individuos.  Su superficie es blanda y viscosa, y cede fácilmente a la presión. Se parece a  la piel de las ballenas, según se describe en los archivos de hace eones, cuando existía mi planeta, la Tierra.
Viajamos a través de galaxias y agujeros negros, practicando la ley universal del equilibrio de entalpia.
Hemos detectado 16512 estados de ánimo en los seres humanos. Karl y sus congéneres tienen más de dos millones. Eso significa que tenemos muy pocos puntos en común en los momentos en los que el sentimiento es dueño de nosotros y nos transporta al mundo ideal.
