On one of the remote planets to which we had to descend due to a technical problem, I met an extraordinary being. He revealed to me that he was immortal. The secret of his immortality lay in a kind of plant that grew in one of the salt lakes, between active volcanoes. The ingestion of this plant allowed that, at the moment of dying, the cells of any of the organs of his body, they gave rise to new cells in perpetual reproduction that replaced the primitive cells forming a new organ that grew as the old one reduced its size till disappear.

En uno de los remotos planetas al que tuvimos que descender
por un problema técnico, conocí a un ser extraordinario. Me reveló que era
inmortal. El secreto de su inmortalidad residía en una especie de vegetal que
se producía en uno de los lagos salados, entre volcanes activos. La ingestión
de esa planta permitía que en el instante de morir las células de cualquiera de
los órganos de su cuerpo, daban lugar a nuevas células en perpetua reproducción
que sustituían a las células primitivas formando un nuevo órgano que crecía a
medida que el antiguo reducía su tamaño hasta desaparecer.
