The capsule
They are
preparing the capsule in which I will be confined for seventy or eighty years.
I am sent to Earth and everything I now perceive in the Universe envelops me in
complete fullness. However, when I enter the capsule, my experiences will come
down to what all five senses will bring to me. I will not be able to move
instantly between infinitely remote points, nor will I be able to move back and
forth in time. But what are eighty years in the face of eternity? That is why,
when I was told the news, I understood that I had to have the experience of,
through my capsule, finding down there those like me who are going to be
imprisoned for a while, but who are nevertheless my companions in eternity.
La cápsula
Están preparando la cápsula en la que voy a estar confinado
durante setenta u ochenta años. Me envían a la Tierra y todo lo que ahora
percibo en el universo me envuelve en una completa plenitud. Sin embargo,
cuando entre en la cápsula, mis experiencias se reducirán a lo que me hagan
llegar los cinco sentidos. No podré desplazarme al instante entre puntos
infinitamente remotos, ni tampoco podré moverme en el tiempo hacia adelante y
hacia atrás. Pero ¿qué son ochenta años frente a lo eterno? Por eso, cuando me
han dado la noticia he comprendido que debía tener la experiencia de, a través
de mi cápsula, encontrar allí abajo a los que como yo van a estar presos
durante un tiempo, pero que sin embargo son mis compañeros en la eternidad.
