Wernher
Lunia sat on the bed and tried to stand up, but at that
moment the door opened. Dressed in a dressing gown, a mask and gloves, a young
man entered and spoke to her in Old Norse:
"Lunia, I'm Wernher, your doctor."
Lunia dived into the sheets, her wide eyes staring fearfully
at Werner. His face was almost hidden by the mask but his voice was pleasant.
"Where I am?"
Her own voice sounded strange to her, as if it belonged to
someone else.
"In a safe place. You have nothing to fear. I would like to
help you so that your adaptation to the new situation is as traumatic as
possible. You are going to see things that you could never have imagined, so I
beg you not to try to understand them and accept them as they are. The people
with whom you are going to interact hardly speak your language, but it is
absolutely necessary that you have contact with them so that you can help us
progress in the knowledge of your past. That is all I can tell you. Now you
must remain here until we can find the best opportunity for you to leave this
room."

Lunia se sentó en la cama e intentaba ponerse en pie, pero
en aquel instante se abrió la puerta. Ataviado con una bata, una mascarilla y
guantes, entró un joven y le habló en nórdico antiguo:
-Lunia, soy Wernher, tu médico.
Lunia se sumergió en las sábanas y sus ojos desorbitados
miraban con miedo a Werner. Su rostro estaba casi oculto por la mascarilla pero
su voz era agradable.
-¿Dónde estoy?
Su propia voz le resultó extraña, como si perteneciera a
otra persona.
-En un lugar seguro. No tienes nada que temer. Me gustaría ayudarte
para que tu adaptación a la nueva situación sea lo menos traumática posible. Vas
a ver cosas que no habrías podido imaginar nunca, por lo que te ruego que no
trates de comprenderlas y que las aceptes como son. Las personas con las que te
vas a relacionar apenas hablan tu idioma, pero es absolutamente necesario que tengas
contacto con ellas para que nos puedas ayudar a progresar en el conocimiento de
tu pasado. Eso es todo lo que te puedo decir. Ahora deberás permanecer aquí
hasta que podamos encontrar la mejor ocasión para que puedas abandonar esta
habitación.
