Eternal Present

And Buddha said to Einstein:

—The idea of time is useful. It allows us to measure how quickly change unfolds around us.

But the past and the future are something entirely different.

They do not exist in the way the present does.

They are constructions of the mind: memory looking backward, expectation looking forward.

What we truly experience is only the eternal present.

From this perspective, time travel is a misunderstanding.

The past and the future are not places waiting for us to visit them.

They exist only when the mind creates them.






Presente eterno

Y Buda le dijo a Einstein:

—La idea del tiempo es útil. Nos permite medir la rapidez con la que se producen los cambios que nos rodean.

Pero el pasado y el futuro son algo muy distinto.

No existen del mismo modo que existe el presente.

Son construcciones de la mente: memoria que mira hacia atrás, expectativa que mira hacia delante.

Lo único que experimentamos realmente es el eterno presente.

Desde esta perspectiva, los viajes en el tiempo son un malentendido.

El pasado y el futuro no son lugares que estén esperando a que los visitemos.

Solo existen cuando la mente los crea.
