I was coming back from buying a bouquet of flowers to give it to my wife, when she entered my mind, for an instant, the image of someone with very long white hair, a lost look and a peaceful face. Suddenly, I realized that it was someone immortal who remained uncontaminated and hidden, and that somehow I was the contaminated part of that being. He was remaining pure and made me fight with all the contaminations of each day and assume the inescapable combat of the moments of each day. So I am always aware of my tainted self, but never of my immortal self.

Volvía de comprar un ramo de flores para regalárselo a mi mujer, cuando entró en mi mente, por un instante, la imagen de alguien con el pelo blanco, muy largo, mirada perdida y un rostro de paz.  De repente, me di cuenta de que se trataba de alguien inmortal que se mantenía incontaminado y oculto, y que de alguna manera yo era la parte contaminada de aquel ser. El se mantenía puro y a mí me hacía combatir con todas las contaminaciones de cada día y asumir el inesquivable combate de los instantes de todos los días. Así que siempre soy consciente de mi yo contaminado, pero nunca de mi yo inmortal.

Someone ventured the hypothesis that he was a space traveler. A similar phenomenon had already occurred in remote times. A boy appeared out of nowhere at the constable's house. Space travelers are those who in an instant of time move through space even from one galaxies to another in a universe in which time is the same for all beings, and therefore their clocks all show the same time. Alguien aventuró la hipótesis de que fuera un viajero del espacio. Ya se había producido un fenómeno parecido en épocas remotas. Un niño apareció de la nada en la casa del condestable. Los viajeros del espacio son aquellos que en un instante de tiempo se desplazan en el espacio incluso de unas galaxias a otras en un universo en el que el tiempo es el mismo para todos los seres, y por tanto sus relojes marcan todos el mismo tiempo. Then the King decided that the prisoner with the highest sentence in the kingdom be brought before him. Strapped with several ropes around his waist and shoulders and equipped with a torch, he would be lowered into the void. This is how the King would know the mysteries of the cave by the explanations that the prisoner would give him when he was rescued. The prisoner was brought before the Monarch. The prisoner, frightened, expressed himself in an unknown language and did not understand what was happening. No one knew where he came from or what crime he had committed to deserve such a harsh sentence.

Entonces el Rey decidió que llevaran ante su presencia al prisionero con la condena más alta del reino. Sujeto con varias cuerdas alrededor de su cintura y hombros y equipado con una antorcha, se le haría descender al vacío. Así conocería el Rey los misterios de la cueva por las explicaciones que le daría el prisionero cuando fuera rescatado. Llevaron al prisionero ante el Monarca. The King ordered to call the architect who was directing the works of the new palace that was being building on the slopes of the Blue Lake mountain. He wanted to know how and where the secret access would be projected from the royal apartments of the palace located on the mountain of the Green Hills, to the secret room that would be located at the eastern end of the future palace. No one should know of the existence of that passage. The architect explained to the King in great detail the underground layout that this important work would follow.

Shortly after that day, the architect requested an urgent audience with the King. In the course of the excavation work, a strange and huge cave had been discovered that seemed to have no bottom. When the workers threw a stone to try to guess its depth, the stone did not return the sound that would be heard when hitting the floor or walls. There was simply no obstacle in ita fall. That unfortunate discovery did not allow them to continue the excavation. The King ordered the architect to lead him to the grotto. Once there, the flickering light of the torches illuminated what appeared to be the empty socket of a huge eye. The King asked for a torch to be thrown. He wanted to see the walls of that basin. The light coming from the torch found no projection on any surface, it was as if the cave pit had no walls. Then an inexplicable event occurred. The torch, instead of falling into the void, slowed down and hung about twenty meters from the surface. That was his explanation for not having been able to hear the stone hit the ground. The stone had also been suspended in space, like the torch.

El Rey ordenó llamar al arquitecto que dirigía las obras del nuevo palacio que se estaba construyendo en la falda de la montaña del Lago Azul. Quería saber cómo y por dónde se proyectaría el acceso secreto desde los aposentos reales del palacio situado en la montaña de las Verdes Colinas, hasta la estancia secreta que se situaría en el extremo oriental del futuro palacio. Nadie debería saber de la existencia de ese pasadizo. El arquitecto le explicó al Rey con todo lujo de detalles el trazado subterráneo que seguiría aquella importante obra.

Poco tiempo después de aquel día, el arquitecto pidió audiencia urgente al rey. En el curso de los trabajos de excavación, se había descubierto una extraña y enorme gruta que parecía no tener fondo. Cuando los operarios lanzaron una piedra para tratar de intuir su profundidad, la piedra no devolvía el sonido que se oiría al golpear el suelo o las paredes. Simplemente no encontraba ningún obstáculo en su caída. Aquel desafortunado descubrimiento no les permitía continuar la excavación. El rey ordenó al arquitecto que lo condujera a la gruta. Una vez allí, la luz trémula de las antorchas iluminó lo que parecía la cuenca vacía de un enorme ojo. El rey pidió que se lanzara una antorcha. Quería ver las paredes de aquella cuenca. La luz procedente de la antorcha no encontraba proyección sobre superficie alguna, era como si el pozo de la gruta no tuviera paredes. Entonces ocurrió un hecho inexplicable. La antorcha, en lugar de caer al vacío, fue perdiendo velocidad y quedó suspendida a unos veinte metros de la superficie. Esa era la explicación de no haber podido oír el golpe de la piedra contra el suelo. La piedra también había quedado suspendida en el espacio, como la antorcha.

The vines had produced a good wine that year. He couldn't complain, although his chapped and generous hands hadn't been able to improve the sight of a plantation that, at the back of the greenhouse, was his favorite. On one of his trips to Venus, he had bought some seeds from Otromn. The vendor had assured him that if he paid them a visit every night and said a prayer of thanks in front of those plants, they would give him a surprise. Time had passed and only tiny, odorless roses had blossomed from the plants. The gardener, too busy with other chores, neglected the seller's advice.

One cold morning, when he was going to the greenhouse, he experienced a strange sensation of danger and hurried to get there as soon as possible. He reached the greenhouse and entered.

Several days later, alerted in the small town of his disappearance, and after an unsuccessful search, someone thought of inspecting the greenhouse. The image was gruesome. The small and harmless roses had grown into huge flowers, similar in size to the Rafflesia. Forming part of its petals were small pieces of the skin, eyes, hair and nails of the gardener.

Las parras habían dado un buen vino ese año. No se podía quejar, aunque sus manos agrietadas y generosas no habían podido mejorar la cosecha de una plantación que, al fondo del invernadero, era su preferida. En uno de sus viajes a Venus, había comprado unas semillas de Otromn. El vendedor le había asegurado que si todas las noches les hacía una visita y rezaba una oración de agradecimiento delante de aquellas plantas le darían una sorpresa. El tiempo había pasado y de las plantas solo habían florecido unas rosas diminutas y sin olor. El hortelano, muy ocupado con otros quehaceres, descuidó los consejos del vendedor.

Una fría mañana, cuando se dirigia al invernadero, experimentó una rara sensación de peligro y se apresuró a llegar cuanto antes. Llegó al invernadero y entró.

Varios días más tarde, alertados en el pequeño pueblo de su desaparición, y después de una infructuosa búsqueda, alguien pensó en inspeccionar en el invernadero. La imagen era dantesca. Las pequeñas e inofensivas rosas se habían convertido en unas enormes flores, parecidas en tamaño a la Rafflesia. Formando parte de sus pétalos se veían pequeños trozos de la piel, los ojos, los cabellos y las uñas del hortelano.
