Los últimos días del otoño - Last Days of Autumn

Last Days of Autumn

The gray tones of the day threatened Laura's peace and quiet. Days like this plunged her into deep melancholy and sorrow. The leaves on the trees painted a multicolored landscape that contrasted with the shadows and abysses of her thoughts. Raindrops wept against the panes of the enormous windows, and Laura, standing pensively before them, sifted through her pasts and futures, trying to find, in an endless labyrinth, the reality she had lost long ago.

She vaguely remembered having a son... or were there two? Were the sad raindrops real? Would her future be real? Her house was cold, and no one ever came to visit her. But what if all of this were nothing more than a nightmare? What if she were actually happy, with a large family and a love that protected her?

Someone approached her and said:

“Laura, it's time for your medicine.”

“Who are you? What are they doing in my house?”

With the warm patience that only those who love her could possess, her children gently accompanied her from the nursing home's sitting room to her bedroom.
